The Latest Newly Opened Places To Wine & Dine For 2022

After fully reopening the island without any travel protocols  in July 2022, many visitors are planning a 2023 trip to the island. As you plan to visit Barbados, consider the newly opened restaurants and bars below for your itinerary between beach days, poolside dips and local excursions. Each of these new restaurants below are just a short distance from Queens Tower, your luxury, boutique Barbados getaway.

Calma Beach Club

Calma lies in the heart of Holetown on the white sandy beach between the Sandpiper Hotel and Tides restaurant.. This relaxed beach club opened its doors as of October 2022 and is one of the most popular destinations already with its comfortable sunbeds and towels, great views, chilled beach style music and a wide variety of menu options.

This is the passion project of Carol Odle (Founder) and Kate Frobisher (Managing Partner). The female duo had spent years building successful careers in the food and drink industry in the UK. After a chance meeting during the Covid lockdown, they decided to work together and created Calma.

You can easily walk along the beach from the villa (10-15 minutes) to Calma.

The beach club atmosphere of Calma ensures a fun, lively experience with the “best beats” playing in the background. As well as an evening bar and restaurant to enjoy as well as the daytime beach club. The friendliness of the staff at this restaurant has made it a new personal favorite.

Baia Barbados

Baia is only a 12-minute drive from our villa, offering seafront setting for a lunchtime or evening option with fun beach club-style music playing in the background. You can grab a drink and dance to lively music on DJ nights

This eatery overlooks the Caribbean Sea, providing incredible water views. Baia opened in April 2022 and is a popular place for visitors and locals. It’s also an Instagram-friendly location with delicious, photograph-worthy food and beachy-style decor.

As you explore the menu, you’ll find an array of Peruvian-inspired dishes with vibrant flavors.

The Bearded Rose

The Bearded Rose is a 3-minute drive from Queens Tower. It comes with high praise, due to the design of this bar and restaurant which was created by Timothy Oulton, a world-famous interior designer who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Timothy Oulton and his team revamped the previously known West Bar to create a hip, glitzy bar and restaurant in its place.

The Bearded Rose is a popular restaurant featuring locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. While visiting this eatery, you’ll find high-quality food with fresh ingredients leading to a mouthwatering meal.

This is also excellent as a location to grab a few drinks within the prestigious Limegrove shopping centre with the likes of Chanel, Ralph Lauren or Michael Kors, a trip to the cinema or just to visit for cocktails as there are mixologists onsite who can craft many tasty drinks from their extensive menu.

Chef Michael Hinds x West

Located in Limegrove, near Barbados Hotels in Holetown (the closest town to the villa) is Chef Michael Hinds x West. This restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere during the day and a lively experience in the evenings. There’s also a buzzy bar worth checking out that’s part of the same establishment.

Chef Michael Hinds has an impressive record in the culinary world, with many years of experience and a personal food and beverage company under his belt. Creating this restaurant was an ode to the West coast of Barbados.

Fresh, high-quality ingredients are incorporated into each dish, inspired by international cuisine. In the evening, you can select flavorful items from a late-night menu to pair with cocktails and an extensive wine selection.

The Cliff

A short, 8-minute drive will take you to the iconic restaurant The Cliff. This fine dining establishment has been a staple in the Barbados community since 1995. After an 18-month makeover, the establishment is open again and welcoming guests.

It’s ideal for a special occasion, as it features elevated prices that mirror its elegance and modern décor.

Visitors may even catch a glimpse of a celebrity during a visit to The Cliff. This eatery is known as the local hang-out for the rich and famous. A glass sea-facing kitchen and breathtaking water views from interior and exterior seating are a few benefits of dining at The Cliff.  Ensure you check The Cliff’s website before arriving, as there is a strict dress code.

Deia Beach

A 30-minute drive from the villa on the south coast, Deia Beach provides a relaxed experience for visitors right on the beach. This restaurant was created to depict the owner, Dominic Seale’s personal travel experiences. Its simple design is reminiscent of his travels to Mallorca, Miami, and other destinations.

During a recent visit to Deia Beach, I was made to feel very welcome by the chap in the photo below.  Beach service is also available, so you can order while lounging on a beach chair.

Deia Beach prides itself on using only locally sourced, seasonal ingredients to help produce its flavorful yet affordable dishes. Flatbreads, sandwiches, bowls, pasta, and more are available on the menu.
