For keen golfers, Barbados is one of the top destinations in the Caribbean. You can enjoy beautiful courses, consistent warm weather, and incredible scenery during your days out. When planning your stay at Queens Tower, you will want to consider adding a round or two of golf at one of these courses on the island. Whether you are a beginner or a regular golfer, you’ll enjoy a round of golf surrounded by turquoise oceans and tropical scenery.

Barbados Golf Club

You’ll enjoy playing at the Barbados Golf Club regardless of whether you are a beginner or a professional. It offers an 18 hole, par 72 course, and the Barbados Golf Club is a stop on the PGA European Tour. It’s open every day from 7 am to 5:30 pm and is located in Christ Church on the south of the island (about 25 minutes drive from Queens Tower). You’ll want to book in advance during the peak travel season, as this course attracts locals, visitors, and cruisers.

Apes Hill Golf Course

A 10 minute drive from Queens Tower, you’ll find Apes Hill Golf Course, about 1000 feet above sea level . It offers a unique setting for a round of golf in comparison to other options on the island and is surrounded by grassland, lakes, and quarries. The site is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment, but you’ll be able to visit here again from November 2021. Choose from the 18-hole course or the 9-hole family course, and then you can relax afterwards at the bar around the swimming pool or the on-site restaurant.

Royal Westmoreland Golf Course

This par 72 course is ideal for any level of golfer, and you’ll find it’s a great course to improve your technique. As you travel between the holes, you’ll admire the ocean views and tropical landscape. It’s a lovely place to spend a day of your Barbados vacation, and is located only five minutes away from the villa. The holes on this course are maintained to a high standard, and it’s the perfect combination of a challenging and enjoyable course. You’ll find a good mix of challenging holes, and the site also offers a driving range and comfortable club house too.

Sandy Lane Golf Course

Sandy Lane is the infamous, luxurious golf resort that offers three different courses. The Country Club, which you can book and is the 18 hole course. The Old Nine course for the 9 hole, or for members only is The Green Monkey course, which was designed by Tom Fazio.  All three of these courses offer incredible views of the island’s coastline and are surrounded by the area’s natural beauty. At The Country Club course, you’ll also find a 45-yard driving range and the Clubhouse offers great dining and facilities overlooking the most idillic scenery. After a round of golf and relaxing in the club house,  you can return to you Queens Tower feeling refreshed and ready to the rest of the day round the pool or beach. On both The Green Monkey and The Country Club courses a golf cart is included with your green fees, and all are located less than ten minutes from the villa.

Rockley Golf and Country Club

If you are looking for a more relaxed day out or are a beginner, you’ll want to consider Rockley Golf and Country Club. The site offers a 9-hole course, with alternative tees for the back nine as well. While it’s a smaller course than the others we’ve covered here, you’ll find it’s still a good test for golfers of all skill levels. Regardless of the length of your stay in Barbados, you’ll find packages here which offer good value for money if you’d like to play multiple rounds during your trip. Enjoy unlimited golf for one week, two weeks, or a month here, and they even offer family membership options too.

Tips for Golfing in Barbados

Barbados is the ideal golfing destination in the Caribbean, thanks to its beautiful courses, year-round sunny weather and breeziness.  If you are travelling during the peak travel season, such as Easter and Christmas, make sure you let us know so that Celeste can book in advance to secure your tee time and organise your transport and club house dining. Or, if preferred, a chef to have a meal prepared for you and your family when you return to the villa.  We understand many visitors don’t want to travel with their golfing equipment, and you’ll find most golf courses on the island offer rental for everything you could need.
